FUND YOUR INNOVATION WORKSHOP on Wednesday, November 19 at California State
University, Fresno (CSUF) that Offers Help Obtaining $2 Billion in Federal
Grants sponsored by International Center for Water Technology University
Business Center at CSUF University Business Center Room 194, 5245 N. Backer
Ave., Fresno, California 93740 .

A workshop to encourage private-sector product innovation will be held on
Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at California State University, Fresno (CSUF).
This event, sponsored by the International Center for Water Technology and
the University Business Center at CSUF brings in experts to teach
participants how to develop and submit a successful proposal and obtain
their share of $2 billion in federal research and development grants.
Individual businesses may be awarded up to $100,000 for exploring the
feasibility of an idea and up to $750,000 to expand on the results of
initial feasibility studies.

This program exists because the risk and expense of conducting R&D are often
beyond the means of many businesses. This is an opportunity to obtain funds
for the critical startup and development stages and it encourages the
commercialization of the technology, product, or service, which, in turn,
stimulates the U.S. economy. Following submission of proposals, agencies
make awards based on small business qualification, degree of innovation,
technical merit, and future market potential. "Each year, ten federal
departments and agencies are required to reserve a portion of the budgets
for grants to businesses across America," says David Zoldoske, ICWT
Director. "Much of these funds have been awarded to companies in
California, but very little has been distributed here in the Central Valley.
As a part of our work with businesses on the Regional Jobs Initiative, the
ICWT felt this was an important opportunity for businesses in the Central
Valley to learn more about the availability of these funds and how easy it
can be for companies here to also take the opportunity to apply for these
grants and possibly grow and expand."

The conference will provide: overview of the grant program, proposal
strategies, proposal draft, review and debriefing, Pre-Solicitation
Research, Pre-Solicitation Marketing and one-on-one session. New this year,
ICWT will select three to four companies with viable ideas that are ready to
apply for free consulting. A consultant will be available to walk by the
side of the company from researching for a solicitation all the way to
sending in the application. A $45 registration fee includes conference
materials and lunch (the event is free to Regional Jobs Initiative cluster
members.) Space is limited. Further event details can be found at
