DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY ARTS COLLECTIVE GRAND OPENING!

     The Downtown Community Arts Collective (DCAC) is having a Grand Opening


 

celebration on Friday, October 17th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.   The open house
will be 

 

held at 754 P Street, Fresno.  DCAC partner and student works will be on
display and 

 

hors d'oeuvres  will be served.  Music will be provided by Steve Ono,
well-known local 

 

musician.  There is no charge to attend and all are welcome.

 

     The event will serve to debut the DCAC's downtown art gallery and
mentoring 

 

program.  The DCAC's mission is to support Valley artists by providing
studio space for 

 

those committed to collectively giving back to the community.  DCAC also
aims to 

 

encourage young, underprivileged youth by fostering an environment of
creative 

 

expression through shared learning and mentoring.  

 

     Currently, six resident artists have been providing weekend workshops
to at-risk 

 

youth and young adults with mental health challenges.  Workshops include
painting, 

 

drawing, creative writing, acting, sculpting, photography and music.  The
DCAC will also 

 

be a permanent stop on the Art Hop circuit beginning in November, 2008.
