Today, NPR's nationally syndicated Tell Me More program discusses The Poet Slave of Cuba, a Biography of Juan Francisco Manzano, by Clovis author Margarita Engle.  The Poet Slave of Cuba is also featured on NPR's website as a recommended book for Latino Heritage Month.  The Poet Slave of Cuba has received the American Library Association's Pura Belpré Medal, an International Reading Assoc. Award, and the Américas Award, presented at the Library of Congress 


Margarita Engle will be reading from The Poet Slave of Cuba and The Surrender Tree on October 23 at 6PM, at Arte Américas in Fresno.  A reception and book signing is sponsored by the Central California Caribbean Association.
