Fresno State’s Theatre Arts Department’s
Experimental Theatre Company
presents a Night of One Acts

Why are human beings so hopeful?
What do they possess to
continue living each day?
THE STATE OF BEING: a Night of One Acts
takes those very questions head-on within three
one act plays: THE
PHILADELPHIA, written by David Ives and directed by Kyle Dodson, LAND
OF THE DEAD, written by
Neil Labute and directed by Singleton Yost and Kyle Dodson and
THE WHOLE SHEBANG, written by Rich Orlof and directed by Singleton Yost. Contained in

those three one act plays concerns everything humans come across –
bizarre reality, raw
emotion, and blind faith.

While one man is enjoying his current human condition, a
friend is just getting used to his.
(The Philadelphia).
While one man
is telling his side of the story, a woman is disclosing her own piece
of the
story. (Land of the Dead).
While one student is pitching her
final thesis, a couple is discovering a whole new outlook on
demeaning
lives. (The Whole Shebang).

After centuries of being beaten down and
uncertain of life’s true meaning, the human race –
much like the white
daisy – can still be found beautiful and valuable amongst common
drivel
of everyday life.
