"The Midas Touch" Paintings by artist Linda Osburn, featuring real gold!

The Arts Council of Kern is proud to announce their second art exhibit at JP
Jennings Gallery, which will feature the work of acrylic artist Linda Osburn
(known from her sellout Eclectic Pear Palette exhibit last summer). New
exhibit titled The Midas Touch and each orig. painting will have a touch of
gold.

Exhibit will open Sept. 3 at ACK's Center for the Arts at J.P. Jennings
Gallery, 1700 Chester Ave, Bakersfield, CA. The works will be on display
from Sept. 3-30, with the opening reception Sept. 3 from 5-7pm, with wine
and appetizers.

For The Midas Touch exhibit, Linda Osburn decided that each painting would
have gold somewhere in the piece, and she leaves it up to the viewer to
discover its location. It is important to the artist that she creates art
that brings a sense of emotion to the viewer and makes them want to immerse
themselves into the piece. Linda endeavors to catch the interest of the
viewers by making use of vibrant colors and creating a story within the
painting. Sometimes she paints to music, and the music can influence how
fast or slow she paints, as well as the length of the stroke.

Linda Osburn's painting style is very eclectic-experimenting and painting
with all mediums and techniques she can imagine. An unstructured artist,
Linda likes to begin painting and let the painting emerge as she goes. As
collectors of her work know, the most important aspect of Linda's paintings
is the title. Osburn shares, "Most of the time [the title] surfaces before
the painting is completed. The title is telling the story, and is the most
crucial part of the painting.it's what grabs your attention and pulls an
emotional response from within you. Sometimes an idea will pop into my head
which requires some sketching, but I rarely pre-draw an entire piece."

The Arts Council of Kern invites the public to attend Linda Osburn's solo
exhibition at the opening reception for The Midas Touch on Thursday, Sept. 3
2009, from 5-7pm. Admission is free and drinks and appetizers will be
available. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the artist, Linda Osburn,
and to experience her eclectic palette and her golden touch! For further
