Thanks Blake for your thoughts on buying local. Farmer's markets-- yes-- small local businesses-- yes also. But don't forget all the local artists who enrich our community-- local musicians; theaters-- both plays and Fresnofilmworks; ; buying local writer's books and artist's works (painters, sculptors, photographers and other craftspersons). Before you go on-line to do your Christmas shopping, consider something from the local creative community-- alternative gift giving is an important way to support the local economy and to think and operate outside of the materialistic/ corporate/ big box. Think tickets to a local performance, subscription to the Labor Alliance or donations to other local organizations, think an art piece, c.d. or book by a local artist. Make Christmas really green (and the rest of the year also). Dixie Salazar
