Free library programs for your community calendar in July as space and time
permit. Thank you.
Summer Reading Program - Now through August 9 - Various dates, times,
locations. Kids and teens can earn prizes for reading this summer. Free
entertainment too includes magicians, music, puppeteers, arts and crafts and
more. Call your local branch library for dates and times.
Job Seekers Workshops - Weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday by appointment
Mosqueda Branch Library, 453-4072 One-on-one job searching assistance at the
library. Sign up at the circulation desk.
Go! Gaming - Saturdays during the summer, Politi Branch Library, 431-6450;
All ages will enjoy learning this ancient game that is still played in
China, Japan and Korea. Chess will also be offered.
Art Smart Lessons - Weekly on Saturdays at 10:30 am and 12 noon, Orange Cove
Branch Library, 626-7942 Weekly on Tuesdays at 3 pm, Mendota Branch Library,
846-8804 Bringing arts into the library for children. Sponsored by the
Fresno Art Museum.
Documentary Film - Wednesdays at 5 pm - Cedar-Clinton Branch Library,
442-1770 - A different free film each time.
Library Health Club - Monthly on third Thursday at 6:30 pm - Kingsburg
Branch Library, 897-3710. Join a discussion group sharing information and
tips on diet, exercise and overall good health.
Open Mic Night - Monthly on second Tuesday at 7 pm - Sanger Branch Library,
875-2435. Come share your prose and poetry or just listen to favorites from
others.
Summer Music - July 12 and July 26 at 2 pm - Sunnyside Regional Library,
255-6594. Free summer music. July 12 is The Jolly Tradesmen. July 26 is
Corky Scott.
One-on-One Computer Assistance - July 1 and July 15 at 3 pm and 4 pm -
Kerman Branch Library, 846-8804
Subjects include Word, Internet and Email. For children grade 4 and high
and for adults.
Musical Nights - July 6, 13, 20 and 27 at 7 pm - Sanger Branch Library,
875-2435. Free summer music concerts. July 6 is blues, folk and rock by
Grey Man Group. July 13 is 1960s music, original compositions, classic rick
and Beatles songs by Acoustic Highway. July 20 is country and old-time
music, Mexican, Italian and European songs by Red Rag Andy Band. July 27 is
jazz, classic ballads, Latin violin and guitar songs by Patrick Contreras
and Steve Ono.
Master Gardeners - July 16 at 9:30 am - Sunnyside Regional Library,
255-6594. "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Bugs" will teach children the
importance of bugs in the ecosystem. The program will include an exhibit
and fun bug-related activity.
Fowler Library Birthday Bash - July 18 from 10 am to 3 pm - Fowler Branch
Library, 834-3114. Join the celebration of this new library's first year of
service. Festivities will include canned food drive, booksale, storytimes,
children's games, craft activities, tours, music and birthday cake!
New Americans Information Fair - July 18 from Noon to 4 pm - Asian Village
Orchid Hall, 488-2903. Get free information on health, education, housing,
business and legal services. The event will also feature music,
refreshments and a showing of the film, "Hmong Voices".
Summer Music Concert - July 26 at 3 pm - Woodward Park Regional Library,
433-3135 Enjoy a free concert by the West Coast Clarinet Congress from CSU
Fresno.
