Congratulations to one of the Valley's greatest authors...

MARGARITA ENGLE's young adult novel in verse, THE SURRENDER TREE  
(Henry Holt, 2008) has just received both the JANE ADDAMS AWARD and  
the AMERICAS AWARD.  The Surrender Tree has also received the American  
Library Association's Newbery Honor and Pura Belpre Award, as well as  
the Claudia Lewis Poetry Award, and a Lee Bennett Hopkins Honor.

Engle's new book, TROPICAL SECRETS (Henry Holt, 2009), is now  
available at local bookstores.
