[FAC] FRESNO STATE SCRIBNER AWRD GOES TO KRISTEN ROAN

The FRESNO STATE SCRIBNER AWARD recipient this spring semester goes to KRISTEN ROAN, 
who
will be installing a solo exhibition of her artwork in Dr. Scribner's new
Allergy Clinic located at 6741 N. Willow, Ste. #102, from August, 2009,
through January, 2010.  Ms. Roan graduates this year as a member of the
Smittcamp Family Honors College, a recipient of the Ina Greg Thomas memorial
Scholarship in Art, a participant in the Arts and Humanities Honors Program,
and a nominee from the Dept. of Art & Design for the Dean's Medal.

As Ms. Roan explores the intersection of fantasy and reality in daily lives,
her oil paintings question the media's influence on our perception of real
life and social networks. The 
Hollywood imagery of life in the 50's and 60's seductive glamour of the
American Postwar Era "holds sway over our collective consciousness" in our
interpretation of this era.

She also explores the current online social networking of today's young
people, hoping to "provoke contemplation of the new conventions of
interaction that are developing on these websites and what that might mean
for those involved."
