*************
Friends,

It's been a long time since I put together a literary event, so I'm
really thrilled to announce this one. I recently joined the board of
Fresno Filmworks, and our January movie is "Bright Star," the new Jane
Campion film about John Keats and Fanny Brawne. The film is at the
Tower Theatre Friday, January 8th at 5:30 and 8:15 p.m.

But that's not the event! On the Wednesday prior, we'll be hosting a
special poetry event and fundraiser celebrating the poetry of John
Keats. Here are the details:

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Revue Cafe Theater
620 E. Olive Avenue
Fresno, CA

5:30-8:30 p.m.

We'll be reading the poetry of John Keats and discussing his life and
work. This will be followed by an introduction to Jane Campion (who
also directed The Piano), Fanny Brawne, and a showing of the movie
trailer. A $100 gift certificate to Veni Vidi Vici will be awarded to
the person in the best Romantic-era costume. There will also be a
drawing.

This is a FREE event, but donations are requested. You can simply drop
them in the Grecian urn at the donation table.

The event will be hosted by LEE HERRICK, author of THIS MANY MILES
FROM DESIRE.

Readers include:

PHILIP LEVINE

C.G. HANZLICEK

DIXIE SALAZAR

JON VEINBERG (reading the poem Larry Levis wrote about Keats)

PETER McDONALD

MICHAEL MEDRANO

STEPHEN MAYU

And a special reading by JAGUAR BENNETT and HEATHER PARISH of the
Woodward Shakespeare Festival.

All proceeds benefit FRESNO FILMWORKS, a nonprofit organization.
Please forward and help to spread the word!
